Analysts’ Training and Testing

Position: Investment analysts should be required to meet training, testing, and registration requirements to practice investment research.

Rationale: The reports issued by research analysts will be available to retail investors, requiring that they are of a high quality. Analysts should, therefore, have appropriate qualifications designed to improve the educational, professional, and ethical backgrounds of persons practicing investment analysts.

Registration and Qualifications of Research Analysts

Position: Research/securities analysts and directors should meet the same qualifications standards as required of supervisory analysts.

Rationale: This will help ensure that all personnel responsible for investment research meet high standards of education and ethics.
