CFA Institute Membership

 

Based on an applicant's qualifications, CFA Institute assigns one of three types of membership:

 

Tips for applying for membership   Do allow several weeks for your application to be reviewed and approved for membership   Don't rely on your job title as a substitute for describing your job duties   More Do's and Dont's

Affiliate membership requirements include:

• Two qualified sponsors
• Agree to adhere to and sign the Member's Agreement and Professional Conduct Statement
• Meet CFA society requirements, which vary by society (find a society)

 

Regular membership (required to receive your charter) requirements include, but are not limited to:

• 48 months of acceptable professional work experience
• passing the Level I exam or the Standards of Practice Examination

 

CFA charterholder membership requirements include, but are not limited to:

• 48 months of acceptable professional work experience
• passing the Level I, Level II, and Level III exams
