Candidate Responsibilities

When you enroll in the CFA Program, you are committing to the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct. As part of the enrollment and registration process, you must sign a Candidate Responsibility Statement and agree to adhere to the policies and procedures in force, including the testing policies.

This commitment is not to be taken lightly: The code requires that you act with integrity, competence, and dignity, and in an ethical manner, and the standards require that you not engage in professional conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation. There is nothing that CFA Institute does as an organization that is of greater importance than promoting the use of our code and standards by investment professionals and enforcing the code and standards among CFA Institute members and CFA candidates. These are the standards of integrity that you must abide by as long as you are a CFA candidate and/or a CFA Institute member.

Reviewing your Exam Confirmation E-mail

It is your responsibility to review your exam confirmation e-mail to confirm your exam date and test center selection. Carefully review your chosen test center to ensure that you have requested the correct test center location and code (i.e., the test center code LND represents London, ONTARIO, not London, England).

Changing your Personal Information

You must notify us of any personal information changes. Make updates online for address, e-mail, or phone number. Submit a name change form (PDF) to change your name. Failure to do so may prevent or delay receipt of important information. Changing your address will not change your test center.

Changing a Test Center Location

We accept requests to change test center locations up until 75 days before exam day. Any requests received after that date will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Find out how to request a test center change.
