CFA Program Curriculum
A committee of practicing CFA charterholders, in conjunction with CFA Institute staff, design the curriculum to deliver the Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) to CFA Program candidates.
The curriculum for each exam level is organized into
18 study sessions, including
assigned readings,
learning outcome statements (LOS), and problem sets.
Because each exam question is based explicitly on the curriculum, you should emphasize mastery of the most current curriculum content in your study program.
2012 Curriculum Purchasing Options
When you register for the December 2012 exam, you can choose from the following curriculum options:
- The eBook version provides access to the curriculum in digital format for use on a personal computer, iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch, or via an internet connection, eliminating shipping and customs fees. If you select the eBook format you will receive a US$40 credit toward your exam registration fee and receive installation instructions and a unique registration code to activate your eBook. We are unable to offer refunds or exchanges so we urge you to view the sample eBook and make your selection carefully.
- The printed version provides the curriculum as a set of six printed volumes, shipped within a few days of registering for the exam. If you select the printed version of the curriculum, the cost of shipping (US$20) will be added to your exam registration fee. (Candidates outside the United States may incur additional customs fees and duties.)
- Candidates may select both the eBook and the printed version of the curriculum (bundle) when they register. The cost for selecting both the eBook and the printed curriculum is US$50 (includes the US$20 shipping fee; however, candidates are responsible for any customs fees and duties).

Curriculum Purchasing Options after Registration
Candidates may select the 2012 curriculum in one format when they register for the corresponding exam and then purchase the other format later.
The purchase price of the curriculum, in any format, remains the same after registration as it is during registration.
Ordering Multiple Copies of the Curriculum
Candidates may order one set of print books and one eBook for their current level in the program at candidate prices.
Additionally, candidates who are also CFA Institute members may order one set of print books and one eBook for each of the three levels of the program (i.e., candidates who are also members can order up to four sets of books).
Shipping of the Printed Volumes
The curriculum is shipped via UPS (Worldwide Saver for international shipments/UPS Ground for North America shipments). Candidates should allow six to nine business days for delivery. For international candidates, the package should reach the customs department within nine business days. It is the candidate's responsibility to clear the package from customs.
