Regulator & Program Recognition For CFA Charterholders and CFA Program Candidates

With continuing help from its member societies, CFA Institute has been successful in obtaining recognition from regulators, other certification programs, and universities around the world. This reflects the breadth of coverage and rigor of the program, as well as its leadership status in the area of ethics.

Regulator Recognition
Recognition comes primarily in the form of a number of waivers for CFA charterholders and candidates from regulatory licensing or qualification examinations around the world. Regulatory bodies grant a waiver from their licensing or qualification requirements to those who pass various levels of the CFA Program or are CFA charterholders. Some regulators require passage of one or more levels of the CFA exam in order for investment professionals to practice in their jurisdiction.

Certification Program Recognition
Certification programs recognize the CFA Program in two ways. First, some programs grant waivers from one or more of their exams, or from a work experience requirement. Second, some programs recognize the CFA Institute Continuing Education (CE) Program to satisfy requirements of their own CE programs.

Educational Recognition
Includes waivers from university courses as well as benchmarking of the level of the CFA Program and CIPM program.

Benchmarking and Accreditation
Provides documentation on the level of the CFA Program and CIPM program.
