Calculate and Manage CE Credits How to record, calculate, track, and manage your learning activities.
In order to maintain and improve your professional competence, we recommend you complete a minimum of 20 hours of CE activities, inclusive of 2 hours in the content areas of Standards, Ethics, and Regulations (SER), each calendar year.
Record and Manage Your CE Credits
- Record your learning activities from the CFA Institute website.
- Enter activities from other providers and sources.
- Print and save reports on current and prior years participation.
- Carry forward your credits once you reach the minimum recommendation of 20 CE credits, two of which include SER credits.
Calculating CE Credit
We provide automated entry of CE credits for a variety of learning activities.
When manual tracking is necessary, use the following guidelines and reference times:
- One CE credit hour is equal to one hour of educational activity. Credit may also be earned in half-hour increments (rounded to the nearest half hour). If applicable, Standards, Ethics, and Regulations (SER) credit is a subset (either in part or whole) of the total credit earned.
- Credit earned for an activity can be calculated by using clock time (the actual time spent engaged in the educational activity) or by using our recommended reference times below.
