Mandatory Continuing Education Requirements

1. CIPM certificants must complete 45 hours of qualifying activities within three years following the calendar year in which the right to use the CIPM designation was awarded or renewed. How to calculate credit

Additionally, certificants must:

2. Attest that they have complied with the MCE program as of the end of each three-year reporting cycle. (Certificants will be prompted to attest during the online member renewal process following the end of their reporting cycle.)

3. Retain the prescribed documentation of pertinent activities for one calendar year following the three-year cycle in which the activities were completed

All certificants may be selected for a compliance review of their activity documentation.

View the MCE Program manual (PDF) to get details about the MCE timeline for candidates who earn the right to use the CIPM designation in calendar year 2007, 2008, 2009, or 2010.

Note: The three-year MCE-cycle begins once the certificate is awarded, not when the Expert examination is passed (e.g., if an individual passes the Expert exam in 2007 but is not awarded the certificate until 2008 due to work experience requirements, their first MCE cycle would begin 1 January 2009).
