Thomas R. Robinson, CFA, is managing director, Educational Division for CFA Institute. Previously Dr. Robinson was an associate professor of accounting and director of the Master of Professional Accounting program at the University of Miami. He also was also managing director of Robinson, Desmond & Zwerner, a state-registered investment advisory firm. Prior to joining the University of Miami, Dr. Robinson practiced public accounting and financial planning for 10 years, primarily with Deloitte & Touche and Pritchett Dlusky & Saxe in Columbus, Ohio. He has also served as a consultant to law firms, accounting firms, professional associations, and governmental agencies in the areas of financial statement analysis and valuation. In his academic career Dr. Robinson has won several teaching awards and has published regularly in academic and professional journals such as the Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance and the Journal of Financial Planning. He is associate editor of Research in Accounting Regulation and has served on the editorial review board of several professional journals. In addition, Dr. Robinson has authored or co-authored five books, including Tools and Techniques of Investment Planning, Analysis of Equity Investments: Valuation, and Financial Statement Analysis: A Global Perspective. Dr. Robinson earned a bachelor's in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and his master's and doctorate degrees from Case Western Reserve University.
