Design Your Program
This is your program; make it work for you
Getting Started
Not sure what to do? Browse our recommendations. We've identified a range of activities that meet high standards of educational quality. We not only believe these selections will enhance your learning experience, but many are also automatically entered in your CE Diary, your online tracking resource.
Some places to begin:
- Review your member benefits: Members receive free access to our publications and webcasts
- Go traveling: Join your peers at a conference − and download a podcast to listen to on your journey
- Stay local: Check your area society's events through our events database or its website
- Stay put: From Refresher Readings to online publications, there's plenty to read right from your computer

One Member's Story "Having a big-picture understanding and being aware of trends and innnovation directly affects my job," says Juli Niemann, CFA, a sell-side oil and gas analyst who has participated in CE for over 20 years. To help her see how her sector fits into the larger investment industry and to understand market participant behavior, Niemann looks for society-sponsored events and webcasts. |
Choosing a Strategy
Here are some possible elements to consider when tailoring your program.
-
Pick a Ratio of Familiar vs. New
Experiences
You may already be involved in learning activities − or you might want or need to try new things. You will probably want to do a mix of both.
-
Decide on a Format
Is it easier to read a book or scan online material? Are you at a computer all day or constantly traveling? Depending on your lifestyle, you may find it easier to listen to the podcasts of an event rather than actually attending it in person − or vice versa. Make sure to explore all of your options, by checking:
- Your membership benefits
- Available RSS feeds (including multimedia)
- Online newsletters, publications, webcasts, podcasts, and Refresher Readings
- Upcoming global conferences and events
-
Find a Topical Focus
You may find your particular goals require you to concentrate on one or more targeted fields − if so, browse a selection of our offerings by topic. You can also perform topical searches for multimedia and publications. These are great ways to search new products, as well as discover external, related resources.
