Carl S. Bang, CFA, is chairman and CEO of State Street Global Advisors France. Previously, he worked as senior portfolio manager in charge of fixed-income and asset allocation strategies at a Canadian corporate pension fund. Mr. Bang also helped found the investment division of the Central Bank of Norway, establishing the Norwegian Petroleum Fund. He has served as president of the Montreal Society of Financial Analysts, vice chair of the CFA Institute Professional Development Committee, and member of the CFA Curricular Committee responsible for portfolio management. Mr. Bang holds a degree in business administration from the University of Windsor and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University. |
Andrew
Canter, CFA, is a director and chief investment officer of
Futuregrowth Asset Management, where his team manages various
specialist fixed-interest mandates on behalf of its institutional
clients as well as a range of unit trust funds. His areas of
expertise are fixed-income management, risk management, and
developmental investing. Mr. Canter is a founding board member of CFA
South Africa. He holds a BSc degree in finance from Bryant
University.

Stephen Cooper serves on the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and is managing director and head of valuation and accounting research at UBS Investment Bank. Previously, he was a member of IASB’s Analyst Representative Group and Financial Statement Presentation Working Group. Mr. Cooper is a member of the UBS Investment Research global investment recommendations committee, and he has been repeatedly voted top European valuation and accounting analyst by Extel and Institutional Investor magazine. He holds a master’s degree in finance from the London School of Economics. |
Michel Y. Dérobert is secretary general of the Swiss Private Bankers Association. Previously, he held a management position with the Swiss Federation of Commerce and Industry and acted as adviser to the admissions board of the SWX Swiss Stock Exchange in areas related to the financial transparency of listed companies. Mr. Dérobert’s current responsibilities include advising Swiss private bankers on policy, legislative, and regulatory issues as well as coordinating their activities in various fields of common interest. He is also secretary general of the Groupement des Banquiers Privés Genevois. Mr. Dérobert holds a degree in business administration from the University of St. Gallen. |

Niall Ferguson is Laurence A. Tisch Professor of History at Harvard University and William Ziegler Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School. He is also a senior research fellow at Jesus College, Oxford University, and a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University. Professor Ferguson has written several award-winning books, including War of the World: Twentieth Century Conflict and the Descent of the West. He is a contributing editor for the Financial Times, writes and reviews regularly for the British and American press, and is a frequent contributor to television and radio on both sides of the Atlantic. Professor Ferguson was educated as a Demy at Magdalen College, Oxford, and holds MA and DPhil degrees. |
Alexander Ineichen, CFA, is managing director and senior investment officer for alternative investment solutions, a business within the alternative and quantitative investments platform of UBS Global Asset Management. Previously, he held various research positions with UBS Investment Bank and started his financial career at Swiss Bank Corporation. Mr. Ineichen’s published works include the books Absolute Returns: The Risk and Opportunities of Hedge Fund Investing and Asymmetric Return: The Future of Active Asset Management. He holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation and is on the board of directors of the CAIA Association. Mr. Ineichen has received a Federal Diploma of Economics and Business Administration (SEBA) from the Universities of Applied Sciences SIB in Zurich. |
Ben Inker, CFA, is chief investment officer for quantitative equities in global developed markets and co-director of asset allocation at GMO. He is also a member of the GMO executive committee. Mr. Inker joined GMO in 1992 following the completion of his BA in economics from Yale University. |
Tim Jenkinson is professor of finance at the Saϊd Business School, University of Oxford. Previously, he held a position in the economics department at Oxford and spent periods as a visiting professor at Dartmouth College. Professor Jenkinson’s research centers on private equity, initial public offerings, and securitization. He developed Oxford’s MBA course on private equity and was recently a key witness to the U.K. Parliament’s Treasury Select Committee enquiry into private equity. Professor Jenkinson’s work has been published in The Journal of Finance, The Review of Financial Studies, The Economic Journal, European Economic Review, and other journals. He holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and a DPhil in economics from Oxford University. |
Matt King is managing director and global head of credit products strategy at Citigroup. His team advises clients on credit portfolio management issues from the latest view on cash and synthetic credit markets to valuation and risk management techniques. The team's expertise spans the whole range of credit instruments including cash, CDS, CDOs, and other forms of structured credit. Previously, Mr. King was head of European Credit Strategy at JPMorgan, and spent three years as a government bond strategist before shifting into credit strategy. He is a graduate of Emmanuel College, Cambridge, where he read social and political sciences. |
Francois-Serge Lhabitant is the chief investment officer of Kedge Capital and a professor of finance at both HEC Lausanne and EDHEC Business School. Previously, he was a member of senior management at Union Bancaire Privée and a director at UBS Global Asset Management. Professor Lhabitant has written books on hedge funds and emerging markets, including The Handbook of Hedge Funds and the upcoming Global Asset Management, and he has published articles in periodicals such as Journal of Derivatives and Hedge Funds and Journal of Financial Transformation. He holds a PhD in finance from HEC University of Lausanne. |

Philip Marcovici is a partner at Baker & McKenzie and a member of its European tax practice’s steering committee, as well as CEO and chairman of their interactive knowledge venture, LawInContext Pte. Ltd. He has been an honorary lecturer at the law school of Hong Kong University and the University of Zurich. Mr. Marcovici is a member of the American Bar Association, the Canadian Tax Foundation, and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He holds a DCS from McGill University, an LLB from University of Ottawa, and an LLM from Harvard. |
James Montier is the co-head of Global Strategy at Société Générale. Previously, he was global equity strategist at Dresdner Kleinwort and also at Natwest Markets/Bankers Trust. Mr. Montier is the author of Behavioural Finance: A User’s Guide and Behavioural Investing: A Practitioner’s Guide to Applying Behavioural Finance. He is a frequent speaker at both academic and practitioner conferences and is considered a leading authority on applying behavioural finance to investment. Mr. Montier is a visiting fellow at the University of Durham and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He holds a BA in economics from Portsmouth University and an MSc in economics from Warwick University. |
James P. O’Shaughnessy is chairman, CEO, and chief investment officer of O’Shaughnessy Asset Management, LLC. Previously, he was director of systematic equity at Bear Stearns Asset Management. Mr. O’Shaughnessy was named “manager of the year” in Gordon Pape’s 2004 Buyer’s Guide to Mutual Funds, and he is featured in the book The Market Gurus: Stock Investing Strategies You Can Use from Wall Street’s Best. He is also the author of four books on investing: Invest Like the Best, What Works on Wall Street, How to Retire Rich, and Predicting the Markets of Tomorrow. Mr. O’Shaughnessy holds a BA in economics from the University of Minnesota. |
Sébastien Page, CFA, is senior managing director and head of the Portfolio and Risk Management Group at State Street Associates. Previously, he worked at CDP Capital. Mr. Page received first prize in the Montreal CFA Society’s 2000 August Hagedorn Contest for his research article on value at risk. In 2003, he won the Bernstein Fabozzi/Jacobs Levy Award for Best Article in the Journal of Portfolio Management. Mr. Page is a frequent presenter at various academic and practitioner conferences. He has published articles in the Journal of Asset Management, the Journal of Portfolio Management, the Journal of Investing, and the Canadian Investment Review. Mr. Page holds an MSc in finance from Sherbrooke University in Canada. |
Igor Pikovsky is head of portfolio risk management at Rogge Global Partners. Previously, he served as team leader of the Relative Value Modeling, Global Modeling, and Analytics Group at Credit Suisse First Boston. Prior to that, Dr. Pikovsky was a professor of mathematics and statistics at Carnegie Mellon University and Columbia University. He received an MS and a PhD in mathematics from Kiev State University and an MS and a PhD in statistics from Columbia University. |

Cliff Quisenberry, CFA, is managing director of Investment Frontiers Research, LLC. Previously, he was director of research and product development at Parametric Portfolio Associates, portfolio manager/analyst at Fred Alger Management, and portfolio manager of the Eaton Vance Tax-Managed Emerging Markets Fund. Mr. Quisenberry’s fund achieved a 5 star rating and a top decile performance track record in Morningstar’s universe of emerging market equity funds. His work has been published in Pensions & Investments and The Journal of Wealth Management, and he has been interviewed by The Street.com. Mr. Quisenberry holds a BA degree in economics from Yale University. |
Nasser H. Saidi is the chief economist of the Dubai International Financial Centre Authority and executive director of Hawkamah, the Institute for Corporate Governance. Previously, he served the government of Lebanon as a former minister of industry and minister of economy and trade, and he was the first vice-governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon. Dr. Saidi is author of the book Corporate Governance in the MENA countries: Improving Transparency & Disclosure and numerous other publications. He holds a BA degree from the American University of Beirut, an MSc degree from University College at London University, and MA and PhD degrees in economics from the University of Rochester. |

Gillian Tett is capital markets editor of the Financial Times and oversees their global coverage of the financial markets. Her previous assignments at the Financial Times have included deputy head of the Lex column, Tokyo bureau chief, and coverage of the former Soviet Union and Europe. Ms. Tett is the author of Saving the Sun: How Wall Street Mavericks Shook up Japan’s Financial World and Made Billions. She received the Wincott prize for her capital markets coverage in 2007. Ms. Tett holds a PhD in social anthropology from Cambridge University. |
Lindsay Tomlinson is vice chairman of Barclays Global Investors (BGI) Europe, and is a member of the executive committee of BGI. He is a director of the Financial Reporting Council and the National Association of Pension Funds. Additionally, Mr. Tomlinson is chairman of the code committee of the Takeover Panel and serves on the board of the CFA Institute Centre for Financial Market Integrity. He is a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and was awarded the Order of the British Empire for services to the fund management industry. Mr. Tomlinson holds a graduate degree in mathematics from Cambridge University and has a postgraduate qualification in mathematical statistics. |
Alia Yousuf, CFA, is head of emerging markets debt at Standard Asset Management. Previously, she managed the emerging market bond portfolios at First State Investments and worked as an emerging market debt portfolio manager at Fischer Francis Trees and Watts. Ms. Yousuf’s previous work experience includes economic analysis for both Emerging Markets Economics Ltd and the World Bank. Ms. Yousuf holds a BSc in econometrics and an MSc in economics from the London School of Economics. |







Said
A. Al-Shaikh is chief economist at National Commercial Bank,
Saudi Arabia, where his responsibilities include overseeing
the preparation of financial and economic analysis of the different
Saudi industries and the editing of Market Review &
Outlook, Saudi Economic Perspectives, and several other
publications. Previously, he served as an assistant professor of
finance and economics in the College of Industrial Management at
the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. Dr. Al-Shaikh
holds a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering from King
Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, a master’s degree in
public policy and planning from University of Oregon, and a PhD in
economics from Cornell University.

Charles
D. Ellis, CFA, is founder of Greenwich Associates. He also
serves as managing partner of a pro bono organization, Partners of
’63. He served two terms as a chairman of the Board of Governors of
AIMR, the predecessor to CFA Institute, and has been honored by CFA
Institute for lifetime contributions to the investment profession.
Dr. Ellis has been associate editor of both the Journal of
Portfolio Management and the Financial Analysts Journal.
He is the author of a number of books, including Joe Wilson and
the Creation of Xerox, CAPITAL, Winning the Loser’s
Game, and The Partnership: The Making of Goldman Sachs.
A graduate of Yale, Dr. Ellis earned an MBA with distinction at
Harvard Business School and a PhD at New York University.
Ralf Lochmüller is managing partner and spokesman for the
partners of Lupus alpha Asset Management GmbH, where he heads the
departments for strategy and planning as well as research and
development. Previously, he held positions with INVESCO, formerly
the LGT Bank in Liechtenstein Group, as managing director of
INVESCO Bank and as managing director of portfolio management and
sales at INVESCO KAG and INVESCO Asset Management. Mr. Lochmüller
has more than 20 years of experience in asset management.
