Society Outreach Challenge

 

In the spirit of maintaining momentum from CFA Day, CFA Institute challenged its member societies to continue developing relationships with the audiences (i.e. allied professionals, employers, media) targeted during their CFA Day activities. US$800,000 was budgeted for this initiative.

 

For activities to qualify for consideration of Society Outreach Challenge funding, they should:

  • Maintain and build upon the momentum from CFA Day activities and develop new relationships
  • Raise awareness of the society, the CFA Program, and/or CFA Institute
  • Target non-members and non-candidates (activities geared solely toward members or candidates were not considered)

 

The Society Outreach Challenge was introduced to societies on conference calls in September 2007, and formally launched at the Society Leadership Conference in October 2007. Societies were asked to submit proposals with detailed budgets for consideration by the Society Outreach Challenge review committee by 31 December 2007.

 

Societies were not guaranteed funding simply for submitting a proposal. A maximum amount that societies were eligible to receive was not set; however, societies were asked to be accurate and realistic when proposing budgets for their activities. 

 

More than 80 proposals were submitted for the consideration of the volunteer review committee. The volunteers independently evaluated the proposals in January and convened on a series of conference calls in late January/early February to discuss which proposals were best aligned with the spirit of the Society Outreach Challenge.
