  2. Shreenivas Kunte, CFA, CIPM

The Alternative Investment space is among the fastest growing financial services sectors in India. The number of registered AIF players has increased from 21 in 2012 to well over 500 as of now. AIF funds under management, currently, are at about INR 72,000 crores.

AIFs offer diverse investment management roles including opportunities in research, fund management, trading and product development. On the skills side, AIF professionals need to be well versed in investment and economic analysis, risk management, market structures and trading patterns of liquid as well as illiquid securities. AIF entry level positions usually require 1 -2 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in investment banking, sell-side research or consulting. Senior level positions are recruited through these and other investment areas or through internal promotions.
