Career Insights: Debt Capital Markets in India

  1. Jayen Shah, CFA
  2. Rajendra Kalur, CFA

India’s debt capital market is poised for rapid growth in the coming decade. It is expected to be as big as — if not bigger than — the country’s equity market. Currently, the debt market amounts to roughly 67% of India’s GDP, with government bonds accounting for a majority of the pie. That said, the corporate bond market has grown in the past few years and has witnessed a rise in retail participation. This growth is set to continue in the future, aided by various policy initiatives, such as the new bankruptcy law.

As the debt market expands in size, it will create opportunities for professionals across all levels. This webinar identifies those opportunities, explains the roles and responsibilities of debt professionals, and discusses the skill sets required by employers in this sector.

Learning outcomes:

  • Understand the dynamics of India’s debt capital markets
  • Learn about career opportunities for CFA® charterholders and candidates
  • Identify the necessary roles, responsibilities, and competencies
  • Gain insight about entry requirements, hiring practices, and career paths
