Michael Drew

Dr. Michael E. Drew is the Chief Investment Officer at MGD Private and a Professor of Finance at Griffith University. He is a financial economist specialising in the areas of investment governance, pension plan design, and outcome-oriented investing. Professor Drew’s research has been published in leading practitioner journals, including the Journal of Pension Economics and Finance, the Journal of Portfolio Management, and the Journal of Retirement. Professor Drew co-authored the monograph Investment Governance for Fiduciaries that was released by the CFA Institute Research Foundation in 2019. Professor Drew serves as a trustee director and member of the Investment Committee at QSuper, a member of the Investment Advisory Board of the Petroleum Fund of Timor-Leste (East Timor), and a trustee of Mary Aikenhead Ministries. He received his PhD in economics from the University of Queensland, is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst®, and is a Life Member of FINSIA.

Ian Patrick
Ian Patrick CFA

Ian Patrick, CFA joined Sunsuper in November 2015 as Chief Investment Officer. He and his team are responsible for the development and execution of Sunsuper’s investment strategy, dynamic asset allocation, and the pursuit of innovative investment opportunities - all while maintaining a strong emphasis on governance and maximising members’ returns. Ian has more than 24 years’ experience in the institutional investment industry, most recently holding the position of Chief Executive Officer at JANA Investment Advisers, a role he held from 2008. Prior to that he was Head of Global Equities at JANA and has also worked for Mercer Human Resource Consulting, Alexander Forbes Consultants and Actuaries, and Ginsburg Malan & Carsons Consultants & Actuaries in Johannesburg. Ian is an Actuary and holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. He is also a CFA charter holder.
