James J. Valentine, CFA, is founder of AnalystSolutions, dedicated to providing best practices, learning, and career advancement services for equity research analysts. Previously, he was associate director of North American research and director of training for the global research department at Morgan Stanley. Mr. Valentine is author of the book Best Practices for Equity Research Analysts. He has earned recognition from the Wall Street Journal, Thomson Reuters, Institutional Investor, and Greenwich Associates for his stock picking, earnings forecasts, and client service. In 2011, the New York Society of Security Analysts presented Mr. Valentine with its Furthering Research Award. He holds a master’s degree in finance.
