While central banks look for a return to normal after a period of historically low interest rates, the risk factors (from sovereign debt to demographics) appear daunting. Moreover, all of the most likely normalization processes would require highly experimental monetary policies, with unpredictable effects. With policymakers undecided about their course of action, investors must consider a range of potential future scenarios.
