Exams are offered four times a year, at more than 400 locations worldwide. You can take the CFA exam a maximum of twice each calendar year but not in consecutive windows or in windows within six months of each other.

The CFA exam fees displayed do not include local taxes. If we need to collect such taxes, they will be added during the payment process. Please refer to our Tax Policy for more information.

CFA exam rescheduling fee
A USD 250 rescheduling fee will apply if you need to reschedule your exam appointment within your exam window.

How often are exams given?
CFA Program exams take place four times a year around the world: usually in February, May, August, and November.
How much does the CFA Program cost?
Based on exam fees, it costs USD 3,520 to 4,570 to complete all three levels of the program and become a charterholder. Cost varies depending on whether you register for your exams during the Early or Standard registration period.
All fees are paid in US dollars. This information is correct starting with the 2026 exams.
What payment methods are accepted for registration fees?
We accept several credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, and American Express, as well as Alipay. Offline payments can be made via an invoice. See all CFA Program payment methods.
What happens if I miss my exam date?
If you miss your CFA exam and want to reschedule within your exam window, you must contact Prometric to check for appointment availability. If an appointment is available, you can reschedule by paying the USD 250 rescheduling fee. If you do not reschedule or no appointments are available, you will forfeit your exam fees, as these are nonrefundable, non-deferrable, and non-transferable for missed exam appointments.
