Qualifications and Expected Duties

Here is an overview of a governor’s role and responsibilities.

In advance of this governor recruitment cycle, the Board has reviewed both the likely number of vacancies and skill sets that would be needed. Accordingly, the Board has directed the Nominating Committee to give priority in its search process to the following:

  • Technology expertise emphasizing online delivery of credentialing and educational content.
  • CFA Institute remains invested in maintaining a climate where equality and mutual respect are both intrinsic and explicit by valuing individuals and groups from all occupational and personal backgrounds and experiences to obtain a wide range of viewpoints and perspectives. The Board is committed to cultivating its members to reflect diversity in demographics such as gender, race, ethnicity, and geography.
  • In addition to a strong expertise in Technology (EdTech), and meeting our FY21 Diversity vision - experience serving in a leadership role for a CFA Institute Member Society remains beneficial for future Board Membership.

In addition, the Nominating Committee is requested to work to achieve a total board size within the range of 13 to 15 governors. The Board currently has 14 sitting governors. Five governors reach the end of their tenure or first term as of 31 August 2021.
