CFA Program® Scholarships

CFA Institute scholarships are part of our commitment to promoting the highest standards of ethics, education, and professional excellence. Our scholarships help make the CFA® charter more attainable and give more people an opportunity to advance their career.

Our scholarships encourage a broader group of individuals to participate in the CFA® Program. Please review the individual scholarship pages for more details on application windows, eligibility, and other program rules.

All fees are net of any local Value-Added Tax (VAT), Goods and Services Tax (GST), Sales Tax or any similar tax payable by the candidate in their country of residence. Where CFA Institute is required to collect such taxes at the local statutory rate, this will be added to the fees shown during the payment/checkout process. What scholarships are available?

CFA Institute offers a range of scholarships; browse the options below to see which you may be eligible for.

Access Scholarship

For individuals who may not be able to afford the program fees and are not currently registered for an exam. You are NOT eligible to apply if you are currently registered for an exam and/or are waiting for results to be released.

Student Scholarship

For students who are currently attending an affiliated university and are not currently registered for an exam. You are NOT eligible to apply if you are currently registered for an exam and/or are waiting for results to be released.

Professor Scholarship

For full-time college/university professors or administrators/department heads who teach a minimum number of credit hours at qualified institutions and are not currently registered for an exam. You are NOT eligible to apply if you are currently registered for an exam and/or are waiting for results to be released.

CFA Institute Scholarship FAQs

    If your scholarship was awarded before to 1 September 2024 then the new policies and fees are not applicable. You should refer to your award email for more details. If your scholarship was awarded on or after 1 September 2024 the new policies and fees are applicable.

    No, you are not eligible to apply for a scholarship until you have received your exam result. If you apply for a scholarship be receiving your results, your application will be rejected.

    You must wait until you receive an award decision before applying for another scholarship. If awarded, you must register, sit for the exam, and receive your results before applying again. Failure to register, schedule, and sit for the exam will make you ineligible for future scholarships.

    We don’t track or limit how many applications an individual submits, but only one application can be open at a time.

    Your scholarship discount will be applied automatically at checkout during registration.

    If you fail to utilize your scholarship by not registering, not scheduling or not sitting the exam, you will not be eligible to receive future scholarships.

    Awards are non-transferable and cannot be extended past their stated expiration date. Please refer to your award email for these details.

    Individuals are NOT eligible to apply for a scholarship if:

    • You are currently registered for an exam, including pending your pass/fail result.
    • You were granted a scholarship after 1 September 2024 and did not use it by registering or sitting for your exam.
    • You were granted scholarships twice after 1 September 2024 and did not pass after your second attempt at the same level (only applicable on scholarship registrations).

    Some scholarships may count toward Professional Learning credits, helping candidates meet their ongoing learning requirements while preparing for the CFA Program.

    Scholarship decision timelines vary, but applicants typically receive notification within several weeks after submission depending on the review process.

    Yes, CFA Institute scholarships are available globally, provided applicants meet eligibility requirements for the specific scholarship they are applying for.

    Requirements vary but may include academic records, a personal statement, and confirmation of university affiliation (for Student Scholarships).
