GIPS® Standards Technical Committee

Purpose

The purpose of the GIPS Technical Committee is:

  • To provide technical oversight of the GIPS standards;
  • To guide development and adoption of the GIPS standards;
  • To provide representation of key industry stakeholders in the development of the GIPS standards to ensure their interests are represented and considered; and
  • To jointly approve the GIPS standards technical agenda and jointly approve the issuance of authoritative guidance along with the GIS Managing Director.

Beth Kaiser Schwartz, CFA, CIPM, is a Director in the Global Industry Standards department at CFA Institute. Ms. Kaiser Schwartz helps maintain the GIPS standards through management of the interpretations process, developing standards and guidance for new technical areas, and working extensively with volunteer committees. Previously, Ms. Kaiser Schwartz worked for both investment managers and investors in various performance, risk, and operations-related roles, both as an employee and a consultant. Before working for CFA Institute, she was a volunteer for the GIPS standards on the North American Investment Performance Committee, Investor/Consultant Subcommittee and the Intellectual Property Working Group. Ms. Kaiser holds a BS degree in finance from Florida Atlantic University.

Daryl Bradford has responsibility for two key functions at the firm. He leads a team whose responsibilities include the generation, integrity and interpretation of performance and attribution reporting, risk metrics, portfolio analytics, and oversight of the firm's GIPS® compliance program. In parallel, he oversees a centralized cash flow and investor services team, streamlining client capital activity. Prior to joining Acadian in 2007, Daryl spent three years in accounting and client service roles at State Street Corporation. Daryl graduated from Stonehill College with a BS in Finance, earned a Masters in Finance from Suffolk University, and holds an MBA with a concentration in investments from Northeastern University. He is a CFA Charterholder and a member of the CFA Society Boston. Daryl was a four-year member of the CFA Institute’s United States Investment Performance Committee (USIPC) and currently serves on the GIPS Standards Technical Committee. He chairs the IAA GIPS Compliance Forum, is a member of The Journal of Performance Measurement’s advisory board and is a frequent conference speaker. He received The Journal’s 2017 Dietz Award for excellence in performance measurement literature.

Krista Harvey, CFA, CIPM, is a Senior Manager in EY’s Wealth & Asset Management (WAM) practice focusing on performance, fund accounting, and data management.  Krista has assisted clients in the segregated account, registered fund, and hedge fund industries with assessments of their data operating models and implementation of improvements. Previously, she was a Director at CFA Institute responsible for interpreting the GIPS Standards and developing guidance on how GIPS-compliant firms can comply with the SEC Marketing Rule.  Prior to joining CFA Institute, Krista held senior roles in Investment Performance and Operations teams at TIAA, Jennison Associates, and Goldman Sachs.  Krista is also a member of the GIPS Standards Technical Committee, has chaired the United States Investment Performance Committee (USIPC), was a member of the GIPS Standards Interpretations Subcommittee, and co-founded the CFA Society of New York Performance & Risk committee.

Kenrick has over 27 years of banking experience specializing in Performance and Risk in Asset Management and currently serves as Vice President at TD Asset Management focusing on Performance Measurement and the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS®). He has also held leadership roles such as Vice Chair of the Canadian Investment Performance Council and is a member of the CFA Institute’s GIPS Technical Committee. With over 25 years as an educator, Kenrick teaches subjects including Accounting, Corporate Finance, Personal Finance, Economics, and Statistics at various institutions. He holds a BSc in Economics from the University of the West Indies, an MBA from the University of Edinburgh, and a Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement from the CFA Institute.

Hans G. Pieper

Hans Pieper has been the Managing Director at DPG Deutsche Performancemessungs-Gesellschaft für Wertpapierportfolios mbH in Frankfurt, Germany since 1995 and is the Chairman of the Board of the Daniel-Theysohn-Foundation. Hans worked on the former DVFA PPS Standards (which were an adoption of the AIMR-PPS standards for the German market) and on the 20025 and 2010 translations of the GIPS® standards into the official German version of the GIPS standards. As one of the founding members, he supported and was an active member of the German GIPS Standards Sponsor, the German Asset Management Standards Committee (GAMSC), until the end of 2017. Hans served as a member of the GIPS Standards Interpretations Subcommittee, chaired the GIPS Standards Overlay Working Group which develop the Guidance Statement for Overlay Strategies, and was the EMEA RTS Chair until 2019. Over the last 30+ years, Hans held seminars and spoke on topics like performance controlling and the GIPS standards to German and European institutional clients and asset managers. He has contributed to the German GIPS Standards Day several times as a speaker and participated in panel discussions and workshops. For many years, Hans was responsible for the BVI German asset management industry's Annual Performance Measurement Seminars, representing between 25 and 45 candidates every year.

Jed Schneider, CIPM, is Senior Vice President and Head of Performance and Client Reporting at Neuberger Berman. Mr. Schneider has more than 30 years of experience in the performance measurement industry and investment operations. Before joining Neuberger Berman, his roles have included Head of Performance Reporting at Lazard and J.P. Morgan’s U.S. Private Bank division as well as a Senior Verifier at The Spaulding Group. He also spent time at Morgan Stanley and U.S. Trust managing performance measurement teams and was a statistician for Consumer Reports magazine, responsible for data analysis on all product testing. Mr. Schneider is a former co-chair of the Performance and Risk Committee of CFA Society New York and an active volunteer supporting the GIPS standards and the CIPM Program. He holds the FRM® (Financial Risk Manager) designation and has a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Stony Brook University and a M.S. in Statistics from Baruch College.

Dimitri Senik, CFA, leads the Investor Trust Services at PwC Switzerland. Mr. Senik provides assurance services to investment managers and investors with respect to investment process and governance, investment performance and risk management, GIPS compliance, and ESG Investing. He is a member of the Investment Committee of the Pension Funds of PwC Switzerland. Mr. Senik has been a long-standing volunteer in the standard-setting bodies for the GIPS® standards and is the past Chair and current member of the GIPS Standards Technical Committee. He is also a member of the GIPS Standards Expert Group of the Asset Management Association Switzerland and a member of the Standards of Practice Council of CFA Institute. He holds a degree in international economics and is a CFA Charterholder and a Chartered Certified Accountant.

Arin Stancil, CFA, CIPM, is a Managing Director and Principal at Guardian Performance Solutions LLC (GPS), a specialty compliance consulting firm established to help investment managers to comply with the GIPS standards. Mr. Stancil has been working with the GIPS standards for over 20 years and has extensive experience interpreting and applying them to almost any situation. Prior to joining GPS, he served as a Vice President and GIPS Compliance Manager for a global investment adviser with over $2 trillion in assets under management, where he was responsible for maintaining the firm’s ongoing compliance with the GIPS standards. Previously, he was a partner at an accounting firm that specialized in GIPS compliance consultation and verification services, where he conducted and oversaw hundreds of GIPS compliance verification projects for firms around the world of all sizes and levels of complexity. Mr. Stancil is currently a member of the GIPS Standards Technical Committee (TC), a volunteer committee established by CFA Institute. The purpose of the TC includes providing technical oversight of the GIPS standards and guiding the development and adoption of the GIPS standards. He is also a past member of the GIPS Standards Executive Committee (EC) and the United States Investment Performance Committee (USIPC).

Stephen is the General Manager at Ashland Partners International. He joined Ashland in 2007 and has always focused on verifying investment advisors' claim of GIPS® compliance as well as performance consulting engagements. Stephen was elected to serve as the GIPS Asia Pacific Regional Technical Subcommittee Chair of the GIPS Technical Committee. Stephen has been a long-standing volunteer in local finance industry organizations for the GIPS standards. Stephen's client base includes firms in Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Stephen is located in Ashland's Shanghai office and has executive responsibility for business operations in Asia. Stephen has been building up expertise in performance measurement and GIPS standards since 2002 at Cutler Investment and before that at PwC and GE Plastics. He received his Master in Business Administration from the University of Chicago and holds a Bachelor of Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
