CFA Institute Appoints Five to Leadership and Credentialing Teams

Executives support CFA Institute mission to lead the global investment profession

CFA Institute, the global association of investment professionals, announces the appointment of five senior executives to support the organization as it continues its mission to advance the investment profession for the ultimate benefit of society. John L. Bowman, CFA, is appointed managing director, Americas; Michael J. Collins, is named as managing director, Services Delivery; Darin Goodwiler, is appointed chief compliance, risk, and ethics officer; Sheri L. Littlefield, is named managing director, chief legal officer, and Lisa M. Plaxco, CFA, is appointed head, CFA Program.

“This is a significant move forward for CFA Institute as we seek to drive meaningful change in the investment profession and lead the way in building a sustainable investment management profession,” said Paul Smith, CFA, president and CEO. “These executives bring a unique blend of experience that will benefit CFA Institute as we aim to improve the value we bring to our members, help investment practitioners to best serve client needs, and raise awareness with investors of what it truly means to be a professional.”

The appointments, effective immediately, come as CFA Institute continues to broaden its global reach, with an increasing presence in China and India, continued growth of its three credentialing programs, the 69th CFA Institute Annual Conference in May in Montreal, Canada, and the third annual Putting Investors First Month in May – a global series of events to unite financial professionals throughout the world in a commitment to place investor interests above all others. 

CFA Institute welcomes:

Michael J. Collins, managing director, Services Delivery
 leads and develops the organization’s Services Delivery functions, Marketing and Communications, Multimedia Production, and the Contact Center, to provide strategic counsel and services to our members and affiliates. Collins earned his B.A. in Communications from Rowan University. 

Darin Goodwiler, chief compliance, risk, and ethics officer is responsible for providing a comprehensive, global compliance and risk management strategy for CFA Institute, its member societies, and affiliations. He will also move the organization forward in its compliance culture and programs and risk management planning. Goodwiler received his B.S. in Security Management from Bellevue University in Nebraska and his MBA from Concordia University, Wisconsin.

Sheri L. Littlefield, managing director, Chief Legal Officer
 leads Legal Services and Board and Corporate Services teams globally to provide the organization comprehensive legal, strategic and governance counsel. Littlefield-Moreno earned her B.A. from George Washington University and her J.D. from Boston University School of Law.

Lisa M. Plaxco, CFA, head, CFA Program leads the CFA Program strategy to expand global access and build the investment management profession. Plaxco is a CFA charterholder, a Level III curriculum author, and has mentored university students in the CFA Institute Research Challenge and CFA Level I candidates. Plaxco earned her B.S. in Chemistry from the California Institute of Technology.

John L. Bowman, CFA, managing director, Americas, provides leadership and strategy to the Americas region, including Canada, the US, the Caribbean, and Latin America. Bowman has served in a number of roles at CFA Institute, as Head, Claritas Program; Head, Educational Products, and Director, Business Development. Bowman earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Mary Washington College and is a CFA charterholder.
