CFA Institute Principles of Sustainable Investing Certificate (Chinese) Approved Under Hong Kong Government Green Finance Funding Scheme
CFA Institute, the global association of investment professionals, today announced that its Principles of Sustainable Investing Certificate (Chinese) has been approved under the Pilot Green and Sustainable Finance Capacity Building Support Scheme, a flagship Hong Kong Government initiative aimed at strengthening talent development in green and sustainable finance.
With this approval, eligible Hong Kong residents, including market practitioners and students, may apply for reimbursement of between 80% and 100% of the relevant programme fees, subject to a maximum cap of HKD 10,000 and other scheme conditions.
The Pilot Green and Sustainable Finance Capacity Building Support Scheme, with total funding of HKD 200 million, was introduced by the Financial Secretary in the 2022/23 Budget Speech to support the development of green and sustainable finance talent. The Scheme was initially launched for a three-year pilot period from 2022 to 2025 and as announced in the 2025/26 Budget, has been extended for a further three years until 2028, underscoring Hong Kong’s long-term commitment to building a deep and resilient sustainable finance talent pool.
The Principles of Sustainable Investing Certificate (Chinese) joins other CFA Institute programmes already recognised under the Scheme, including the Sustainable Investing Certificate and the Climate Risk, Valuation, and Investing Certificate. Together, these programmes provide structured learning pathways for professionals seeking to build practical capabilities in ESG integration, climate risk assessment, valuation, and responsible investment practices.

The Principles of Sustainable Investing Certificate (Chinese) provides a foundational introduction to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors and their application in investment decision-making. Delivered in Simplified Chinese, the certificate supports wider participation from global Chinese-speaking community and complements CFA Institute broader suite of sustainability-related learning programmes.
